Join a full day at the Saville Community Sports Centre featuring active, engaging and practical sessions hosted by the Health and Physical Education specialist council and Ever Active Schools. Dr. Doug Gleddie and Dr. Lauren Sulz from the University of Alberta will open the day with a keynote session, "School Sport for All," looking at eliminating cuts from school teams to support life-long physical activity. After this you will have your choice from a variety of gymnasium and classroom sessions led by provincial partners including the Sport Injury Prevention Research Centre, Be Fit for Life Network, Ever Active Schools, Health and Physical Education Council, Provincial Sport Organizations, as well as experts from the region. 9:00am - Opening Feature Presentation: School Sport for All with Dr. Doug Gleddie and Dr. Lauren Sulz from the University of Alberta | Curling Lounge - Saville Sports Centre


9:45am - Breakout Sessions:
  • School Sport for All follow-up discussion (Curling Classroom)
  • The New Standard for Warming up with the Sport Injury Prevention Research Centre (Gym 6)
  • Meaningful Physical Education with the Health and Physical Education Council (Gym 5)

11:00am - Breakout Sessions:
  • Interactive Health Education Activities for Grades 7 - 12 with Dr. Lauren Sulz (Curling Classroom)
  • Collaborative Kin Ball Games with Kin Ball Canada (Gym 5)
  • Orange Marks the Spot: Lesson Plans for Outdoor Adventure (for secondary) with the Be Fit for Life Network (Gym 6)
  • Due to an unforseen circumstance, Ever Active Schools' Games and Activities to Optimize Self Regulation session is cancelled - stay tuned for an alternative session!

12:00 noon - Lunch Break (not provided)


1:00pm - Breakout Sessions:
  • Orange Marks the Spot: Lesson Plans for Outdoor Adventure (for elementary) with the Be Fit for Life Network (Meet in Curling Classroom, prepared to move around the facility)
  • Shuttle Time! with Badminton Alberta (Gym 6)
  • Alberta Medical Association Youth Run Club Clinic with Ever Active Schools (Gym 5)

Delegates attending this session are responsible for their own transportation to and from the Saville Community Sports Centre
