While attending MCATA I was inspired by Peter Liljedahl's research to use VNPS (Vertical Non-Permanent Surfaces) to foster a thinking classroom in my Jr. High Math classes. First, this session will discuss the inspirational research by Peter Liljedal at Simon Fraser University. Second, it will address the classroom culture I developed to support the use of VNPS. Third, it will provide specific examples of how I am using VNPS for opening activities, lesson examples, small group enrichment and remediation, and quiz corrections.
