Do you consider the class and school learning environment with a trauma informed and sensitive lens? Abuse. Accident. Divorce. Immigration. Inter-generational trauma. Poverty. Increasingly, our students are impacted by trauma and it can impact their learning and success in school and in life. They require school personnel that can recognize and respond to trauma in the school setting. Some of the topics covered in this session will include: How to recognize, understand and respond to toxic stress and trauma in students Characteristics of a trauma sensitive and responsive school environment Developing trauma-sensitive classroom spaces and behavioral practices Resilience as a factor in responding to trauma Risks of secondary trauma., burnout and teacher well being strategies The critical importance of relationships and community partnerships
